Arizona Sonora Desert Museum
We have been wanting to go back to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum for awhile. Last time we were there was in 2012. It was kind of a last minute decision, we had a rental car and decided to put some miles on it. Ended up leaving around 7:00 am, after our quick stop at Starbucks.
Before arriving at the ticket window we were greeted by a magnificent hawk, allowing the close-up capture below (photo info: 500mm, 1/500 sec, f/8, ISO 400).
We decided to get the family annual pass ($75) instead of purchasing two tickets ($39 for two). For Mr. Jimmy it would have only been $17.50 (Seniors). 🙂
Raptor Free Flight – 10:00 am
Each day at 10:00 am & 2:00 pm (thru April 14th this year) they have a Raptor Free Flight live animal presentation. They feature different birds during each show. Below is a Peregrine Falcon from the morning show (photo info: 500mm, 1/2000 sec, f/8, ISO 800).
You can’t miss the Hummingbird Aviary while you are at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum! Below is very up close capture (photo info: 90mm macro, 1/160 sec, f/8, ISO 800).
Below is a short video of the hummingbird above.
