Diving Lady Tetraptych – Neon Sign

08/19/2014

Diving Lady Tetraptych – Neon Sign

The Diving Lady is my first tetraptych (an arrangement of pictures in four parts)!  The print shows the four modes of the animated diving lady from the Starlite Motel in Mesa. The neon sign was restored after being damaged by an October 5, 2010 storm. The photos were captured during the lighting ceremony on April 02, 2013. About 300 people attended the celebration to watch Mesa Mayor Scott Smith flip the switch. The original sign was built in 1960.

The finished piece is 45.25 x 7.5 inches. The “Diving Lady Tetrptych” will soon be hanging at the Catitude Gallery & Studio on Western Avenue in Historic Avondale. Also please mark your calendar for the Catitude Gallery Artist Reception on Saturday, September 27th at 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Hope to see you there!

Surprise City Hall Artwork Display 2nd Quarter 2014

04/10/2014 – 06/30/2014

Surprise City Hall Art Display

Got some good news this week! Two of my photos were select to be displayed at the Surprise City Hall from April 10th through June 30th. The artwork will be part of their rotating hanging art display that will be shown along the first floor of City Hall. The Surprise City Hall is located at 16000 North Civic Center Plaza, Surprise, AZ 85374.

The rotating hanging art display will also be part of the Art Encounter on April 23rd, 5 PM – 7 PM. It is a free event plus it includes refreshments!

Artwork On Display

Below are the two photos that will be on display at Surprise City Hall. The first image was captured using my first DSLR (Sony A55) during our trip to Nicaragua in June of 2012 (photo info: 35mm, 1/250 sec, f/6.3, ISO 100). We came across the horseman during our visit to the Miraflor Natural Reserve. Miraflor is about 18 miles away from the city of Esteli. This image was printed on Epson Velvet Fine Art 17 x 22 paper.

The second image was captured the day after the 4th of July, 2013, during one of our trips to Sedona (photo info: 18mm, 1/60 sec, f/7.1, ISO 200). This image was captured from the footbridge near the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village in Sedona. In the distance is Wilson Mountain and Steamboat Rock. This image was printed on Epson Exhibition Fiber 17 x 22 paper.

Both images were printed on an Epson Pro 3800 using Epson UltraChrome K3™ ink technology. I mounted both on  24 x 30 archival foam board using Lineco archival photo corners and mounting strips. Finished both up with single white archival mats, and jet black wood gallery frames.

Well, all good things must come to a end, and this is the end of our post for the Surprise City Hall Artwork Display. Adios!
